Best direction to visit orangutan and enjoy river tours by wooden river boat in Tanjung Puting National Park Pangkalan Bun
Tanjung Puting National Park is located on peninsula on the south east of Borneo , covers an area about 300.400 hectares. The park lined with vast tracts of wetland, lowland, mature tropical heat swamp forest with large rookeries that provide breeding ground for wide population of waterfowl. Flora and Fauna Tree species commonly found such as; ramin, meranti, jelutung, kerwing,ulin (iron wood). The park also inhabited by wild orangutans, proboscis monkey, long tail macaque, birds including; hornbill, king fisher, myna, oriental darter, and over 220 other species of birds. Furthermore, kind of fauna that seen occasionally; agile gibbon, gray gibbon, red leaf monkey, Malayan sun bear, monitor lizard, and crocodiles. The river attached with swamp and lake to support the life of many species of fish.

Tour Itenary :

Day 01 Pangkalan Bun – Kumai Port – National Park

Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun airport, you will be picked up by our local staff and take you to kumai port by car for 20 minutes and then proceed to National Park Tanjung Puting area by Boat for 2 hours. The boat is wooden river boat for tourist specialist. It’s 12m by 2,5m with a roof and called by Klotok, which forms the upper deck, you can view the natural rainforest. We will slowly explore the quite river by Klotok to observe wild animals and natural environment along the river sides. Cabin with Simple mattress, pillow, meals, bottled mineral water, mosquito net, kitchen and simple toilet are available on Boat. You can choose to take dinner and stay over night on Boat or at Rimba Lodge.

Day 02 Boat/Lodge – Pondok Tanggui – Camp Leaky

After breakfast, we will travel up the river for 2 hours boating to Camp Leaky where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. Before arrive in Camp Leaky, we will stop in Pondok Tanggui to see feeding time at 09:00 then proceed to Camp Leaky. After lunch on Boat you have opportunity to take small trek before see feeding time in Camp Leaky area at 14:00. Enjoy the river safari when you are on way back to stay over night on boat or at Lodge.

Day 03 Boat/Lodge – Kumai Port – Pangkalan Bun

After breakfast, we will transfer you to Kumai port by Klotok about 2 hours then take car to Pangkalan Bun airport to catch flight for your next destination.

For competitive price and to get much more opportunity to see wildlife in this area you can stay over night on boat. The boat is river wooden boat and called by Klotok. It’s 12m by 2,5m and there is toilet, cabin with clean mattress, on upper deck you can enjoy natural rainforest view and in the morning you will fell the sweetest greeting from any kind of birds and other wild animals such as macaques, proboscis monkeys, orangutans while you enjoy breakfast with coffee or tea.
